Statement about the political situation in Lower Austria
It is with the greatest irritation and concern that we take note of the new government agreement between the ÖVP and the FPÖ in Lower Austria. More than ever, we at Kunstraum Niederoesterreich underscore that misanthropy and discrimination of any kind have no place with us and in our program. On the contrary: diverse societies need a diverse cultural landscape. Change and pluralization are processes that we welcome and actively promote - through cultural programs that reflect society in its complexity and diversity. We will continue to give a voice and a forum to those who fight for an open, democratic, and sustainable (Lower) Austria. At the same time, culture needs ecological perspectives. The climate crisis calls for solidarity-based action and a rethinking on the part of all of us. We will promote a sensitivity for this by setting respective topics and formats in our institution.
Since its founding, Kunstraum Niederoesterreich has distinguished itself as a platform for pluralism, criticality and exchange and we will continue to provide and promote it as such in the future.
As an institution of the NÖKU we act autonomously in our programming and we will defend this independence in the coming years.
We warmly invite you to accompany our program and to co-shape it with your diverse rich lived experience and manifold knowledges. To learn more about our program here.
