Daliah Touré: A collection of ways
Performance: Fri, 14.02.2025, 6.30pm
Artist: Daliah Touré
Curator: Frederike Sperling
In A collection of ways, the performer, art mediator, and dancer Daliah Touré embarks on a performative excursion through the abysses of the white cube. The performance results from playing with the thought of exhibition spaces without an exhibition: How to activate a space and its potential to become more than just a presentation surface? The setting is Kunstraum Niederoesterreich. A collection of ways is conceived as a dialogue between past projects and works as well as the visible and invisible traces that artists, visitors, and the team have left behind with their bodies, movements, and gestures over the last years and decades. It expands on the workshops organized in the context of the Kunstraum format Body Talks, which Touré has been offering since 2023. What role does our body play in exhibition spaces? Are we really free in our expression?
Daliah Touré lives in Vienna and works as a dancer and art mediator. She studied dance at the Northern School of Contemporary Dance, Leeds (UK). Before returning to Austria in 2019, she worked as a dance lecturer at York St. John University (UK) and as a freelance dancer and choreographer. Touré holds an MA in Performance, Culture and Context from the University of Leeds. She has extensive experience in multidisciplinary practice and has been exploring new formats of art mediation in exhibition spaces since 2020. Her mediation work focuses on movement-based approaches to connect with other art forms on a physical level.
